How to use AI Contact List
Short, clear answers for every feature: your QR card, importing and searching contacts, favorites, events and conferences, event albums with photos and videos, follow-ups, connecting your AI assistant, Google Sheets target lists, and privacy.
How do I use the app at a conference or meetup?
Before: open the event (or scan the agenda) so every session sits under it. In the room: show your QR code, let people pick themselves from their own contacts, then jot a ten-second note while it is fresh. Every hello is stamped with the date, time, place and event. Next morning: open Follow-up for a ranked list of who to reach, with a draft in the channel they are most likely to read.
How is the Events tab laid out?
Events works like My Contacts. The pills at the top switch between Past, Today and Future, each with a count. Below them one card holds the search box, an Add button and a refresh button. Add lets you parse an event from a link, add one by hand, or connect Luma, Partiful and other calendars. Refresh pulls the latest events from your connected calendars. Calendars & more folds away the calendar colour toggles, your timezone and Discover events around me. The event cards sit in a row you swipe sideways, and the open event's sections appear below. Only the section you need first opens by default: About for upcoming events, Attendees for today and past ones.
When does the attendee search show up?
Searching an event's attendees appears only once the event has 15 or more people. Smaller events show the whole list.
Where do I connect a CRM, my calendars or my AI assistant?
Open the gear (Settings) menu at the top right and look under Connections. CRM opens the Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho connect screen, which also has import and send-leads tabs. Calendars opens the connect screen for Google, Luma, Partiful and other calendars. Connect to your AI assistant is just below them.
What happens the first time I import my contacts?
On a first visit the app offers one simple prompt to import the contacts on your phone, and nothing else. Afterwards it invites you to fill in your profile so it can suggest better introductions and fill in your card when you share it. That profile is private: see How private is my profile?
How private is my profile?
Completely private. What you add about yourself is visible only to you until you choose otherwise, and only you can choose to share any of it, with whom, and you can stop any time. It is never sold, never used for marketing or advertising, and never shared with third parties for those purposes. It is used only to make the app work better for you, such as suggesting who to meet and filling in your card. Your AI assistant sees a profile section only if you turn it on under Profile > Share with AI assistants.
How does search work?
Type in the search box at the top of My Contacts. It always looks through your contacts and your LinkedIn connections together, including nicknames, so there is nothing to switch. Type a question instead of a name and Ask AI answers across your contacts, LinkedIn and events. Tap into the empty search box to see Past AI searches.
How do I add someone quickly in the room?
Tap Add, then Add Contact. It goes one step at a time: Phone, Name, Email, then Details. On the first step type their number, then tap Next. Tap Text to save them and send a message asking for their name and email, or Save to stop there. No number? Tap Skip to go to email, or switch to Social handle and pick Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X or LinkedIn. A name and a handle is enough. Scan Badge, next to the microphone, reads a name and company off a name badge. If you only have a phone number or email, you can text or email them a link where they add their own name and email. It updates only that contact. The message can also include a link to your contact card, made from what you selected in My Info, or you can send the card as a .vcf file. On the QR Codes tab, Add a contact instead opens the same steps for people who would rather not scan.
Where are Add, Sort and filter?
The Add button sits right under the search box, next to the refresh button. Sort & filter sits below them and is folded away until you tap it. A small badge shows when a filter is on.
How do I collapse or reorder my favorites?
Tap the Favorites heading to fold the row away or open it again. To reorder on a phone, press and hold a favorite until it lifts, then drag it to a new spot and let go. On the web, use the arrows on each favorite or drag it with the mouse.
Can I draft a follow-up in Muse, Claude or Gemini with one tap?
Yes. On a contact's follow-up, tap Draft in Muse, Draft in Claude or Draft in Gemini. Only the assistants you have connected show up, with Muse first, then Claude, then Gemini; ChatGPT appears after them when it is connected. Claude and ChatGPT open with the prompt already filled in. Muse and Gemini open with the prompt copied for you to paste. The prompt asks the assistant to look the person up in your list first, so the draft uses your notes.
Can my assistant use a Google Sheet as a target list?
Yes. Ask your assistant to list your Google Sheets; it tells you which account to share the sheet with as an Editor. Then ask it to link the sheet. The first row must have column headings such as Company, Contact, Email, Zip, Funding stage and Status. Your assistant can then read rows, import them into My Contacts (marking each imported row in the sheet), and update cells or add columns such as Status and Last contacted. It previews bigger changes first, and unlinking forgets the link without touching the sheet or the contacts already imported. A target list could be newly funded startups or a regional list by zip code.
How do I share an event album?
Open the event and tap Share in Photos & videos. You get a link that anyone can view and swipe through. Send it as a group text or group email to people you choose, or copy it. After you tap Group text or Group email, the share page closes and you are back on the event. Viewing needs no account; downloading needs a free one. Turn guest uploads on or off at any time, and choose Stop sharing to switch the link off for good.
Can other people add photos and videos to my album?
Yes, when you turn uploads on. Each person who adds must sign in. An album holds up to 50 photos and videos in total, and each other person can add up to 30 photos and videos combined. You, the host, can remove anything from your own album.
How do I add videos to an event?
Tap Add in Photos & videos and choose photos, videos, or both. A video can be up to one minute. It is shrunk on your phone before it is sent, so it uploads quickly. The tile shows a play button; tap it to watch. Event albums hold up to 50 photos and videos in total.
Does the app keep my photos and videos on my phone?
Yes, the way a chat app does. The first time you open a photo or video it is downloaded and saved on your device, and after that it opens from the phone instead of downloading again. The app keeps up to 300 MB and removes the least recently used items first. If your phone is short on space it may clear them, and they simply download again next time.
What happens to photos in old albums?
Photos and videos in albums older than about six months move to cheaper archive storage. The album looks the same: a small preview shows at once, and the full photo or video downloads when you open it, then stays on your phone. The first open of an archived item can take a moment.
Is AI Contact List available in the Muse connector directory?
Public Muse directory availability has not been confirmed. A custom MCP connection does not mean a connector has been reviewed or listed. Muse connection setup requires a supported authentication flow and the service operator must configure the exact callback supplied by the Muse portal. Never share your personal account password or MCP key as a reviewer credential.
Where does research about a contact go?
Open the contact and use Paste research in Google Research. The pasted text is saved as an About artifact on that contact, even if the research lookup fails. If enrichment suggests a bio, select Save to About to keep it there. You can also add an About artifact directly from Contact Artifacts.
How is Exa web search different from searching My Contacts?
Exa web search retrieves public web pages and source highlights. It does not search or automatically upload your contact book. The web search API requires sign-in and a server-side EXA_API_KEY. If Exa reports exhausted credits or a spending limit, both web search and enrichment switch off and stop new Exa calls in that server process. After topping up, restart the server and reload the app. Temporary rate limits do not turn the feature off. Searching your saved contacts remains a separate feature. Search queries are sent to Exa, so avoid including private contact notes or credentials.
Can I sign in with Microsoft 365?
Choose Continue with Microsoft 365 on the welcome screen or sign-in dialog and select your Microsoft account. Your organization may require administrator approval. If your email already has an account using another provider, use your original sign-in method. Microsoft sign-in requires the service’s Microsoft provider setup to be enabled.
Can I sign in with my Apple Account?
Choose Sign in with Apple next to Google on the welcome screen or in the sign-in and create-account dialog. Complete the Apple prompt to continue. You can choose Apple’s Hide My Email option. Use the same sign-in method each time to return to the same account.
What data can a connected AI assistant access?
OAuth connects an assistant to your own saved contacts, notes, artifacts, events, CRM records, and follow-up information. Profile sections are off until enabled under Profile > Share with AI assistants. Supported writes require the assistant client’s approval flow. Revoke keys in MCP settings to stop future calls; this does not erase data already returned to the assistant. See the Privacy Policy for providers, retention, and deletion help. Optional LemList calls use only https://api.lemlist.com/api; custom proxy endpoints are rejected to protect your credentials and lead data. Exporting leads to a campaign may activate that campaign’s outreach.
Why does the connector return no CRM leads or LemList campaigns?
CRM results come from your own saved accounts. An empty CRM stays empty; the connector does not fill it with example leads. LemList campaigns require a working LemList connection. An export needs saved leads with valid email addresses and only marks a lead as contacted after LemList accepts it. Missing credentials or a failed export return an explanation instead of a simulated success.
How does an AI assistant know which tools can change my data?
The connector labels lookups as read-only and labels tools that can add, edit, import, merge or delete records as write operations. A tool that can optionally save a draft is still a write tool. Your AI assistant uses these labels with its own permission settings to decide when to ask for confirmation. You can revoke a connection in AI & Integrations.
Can I save a pet’s birthday or age?
Add or edit a Pet artifact on a contact and enter its name, type, and optional birthday or age. The card shows the birthday and age when known. Pet birthdays do not change the artifact’s chronological position.
How do I correct dates on my latest phone import?
In Import & Export Hub, choose No date or Older date, then tap Fix the latest import. Review the confirmation before applying it. It groups the latest phone import as contacts created in the same run, with no gap longer than 30 minutes, and shows the time range before confirmation. Contacts already set to No date are skipped; other contact details stay unchanged. New phone imports also follow your date choice.
Can I just ask how to do something?
Yes. Open Settings, expand Tutorials & FAQ and type your question under Ask Claude. You get a short answer plus buttons that jump straight to the screen or setting you need, with the right section highlighted.
How do I add a list of books to a contact?
Open the contact, go to Artifacts and tap Books. Tap the photo button and choose up to four pictures: a bookshelf (the app reads the spines) or a screenshot of the books you read in Libby, Kindle or Goodreads. The titles and authors appear as a list, one per line. Fix or remove any line, then save. You can also type the list by hand, and AI assistants connected to your account can add one for a contact.
How do I save a summary of calls or text messages with a contact?
Open the contact, go to Artifacts and tap Call / Text / Email Log. Tap Summarize from screenshots, pick up to four screenshots of the text thread or call log, and the app fills in the channel, a one-line headline, the date, key points and follow-ups. Check it, then save. You can also type one in by hand. AI assistants connected to your account (Claude, Muse, Gemini and others) can add the same kind of log for a contact, including a summary of an email thread: ask them to summarize it and attach it to the contact.
How do I refresh my connected calendars and match the people on an invitation?
On the Events tab tap Refresh Calendars to pull the latest events and invitations from every connected calendar right now. Open an event and expand "On the invitation" to see everyone invited. For each person, tap Match to link them to a contact you already have, or Add to put them in your contacts with that event. "Add all" does it for everyone not yet in your contacts. Events synced before this update fill in the guest names the next time you refresh.
How do I quickly add a person to an event?
Open the event and choose Add People You Met. Search or scroll to select people, then Add Contacts. The picker loads more rows as you scroll; Select All Filtered still selects every matching person.
What happens after I save an exchanged contact?
After saving the received card, the app returns to your QR code so the next person can exchange cards with you. If saving fails, it shows an error instead of returning to the QR code.
Why does a person stay removed from an event?
Automatic matching only considers newly shared contacts and events overlapping their share time. Opening Events does not scan older contacts. Removing a person clears their event link and tells automatic calendar matching not to attach them again. You can add them back explicitly using Add People You Met.
Can I switch tabs without losing my place?
Main tabs open at the top, including switching between Events and My Info. Returning from Assistant opens My Contacts at the top without selecting the last contact. Contacts, LinkedIn, CRM and Events keep their open lists while you switch around the app. LinkedIn continues loading after you leave its tab, and Discover Around Me keeps its results when you return. Refresh or reopen the app when you want a fresh session.
How are new contacts saved and synced?
New contacts appear in your local list immediately and sync to your account when connected. Contact details save automatically as you edit. Tap Done to finish; if cloud saving fails, your edits remain available and you can try again.
How do I report an iPhone or Android app crash or unexpected reload?
Reopen the app after a crash or unexpected reload, then contact support with the approximate time and what you were doing. The iPhone and Android apps use Firebase Crashlytics to help diagnose crashes and errors, including the last recorded screen before an unexpected reload.
What is AI Contact List?
A digital business card and contact book in one. Share a QR code to swap details in seconds, keep everyone you meet in one searchable list, track events, and let AI agents like Claude help with follow-ups.
How do I install it on my phone?
Use the iPhone or Android app, or open aicontactlist.com in your browser and choose Add to Home Screen (iPhone: Share, then Add to Home Screen). It works like an app either way.
Can I see the welcome tour again?
Yes. In Settings, open Tutorials & FAQ and tap "Replay the welcome tour".
How do I tell which calendar an event came from, or pick between overlapping events?
Each synced calendar has its own color on the event cards, with a legend above them. Events are listed by when they end. If you met someone while several events overlapped, the contact card shows each one as a chip so you can switch to the right event.
Can contacts save to my phone automatically?
In the iPhone and Android apps, turn on "Save new contacts to my phone automatically" on the Contacts tab. Anyone who shares their details with you is then added to your phone's Contacts, the next time the app is open. A browser or home-screen web app can't write to Contacts by itself, so there "Save all to phone" saves every contact not on your phone yet in one tap.
How do I add an event's agenda?
Open the event and tap "Add sessions". Take a photo of the printed agenda (or choose a screenshot) and every session is read for you, with its time, room and speaker. Check them, fix anything, then save. You can also add sessions by hand.
How do I record which session I met someone in?
Open the contact, and under Where & when we met pick the event. If it has sessions, they appear below as chips: tap the ones you were in. The session that was on when you added them is marked "on when you met". If the one you were in is not listed, type its name and tap Add, or tap Scan agenda to read it from a photo. The sessions show on their card, and on the event page under each session you will see who you met there.
Can I tag a contact to a group?
Yes. On a contact, tap Group and type one or more names (Seattle Founders Dinner, Soccer parents). Each is saved as its own Group artifact, like an event but not tied to one day. Connected AI assistants can add groups and filter contacts by group.
Can I record a contact's hobbies and search by them?
Yes. On a contact, tap Hobby, type one or more (golf, skiing) or tap a suggestion, and each is saved as its own Hobby artifact. They show on the contact card. Connected AI assistants can search by hobby too, for example "who do I know that skis?".
Can I scan several business cards at once?
Yes. Lay the cards flat in one photo (or choose a few photos) in Scan Card. Each card is read separately and shown in a list. Untick any you don't want, fix a detail if needed, and tap Add. Each one becomes its own contact, and anyone already in your list is skipped.
How do I create my QR code?
Go to My Info, fill in the details you want to share, choose business, personal or both, then tap "Create your QR Code". Show it on your screen and anyone can scan it with their camera.
What happens when someone scans my QR code?
They see your card, can save it to their phone, and are asked to share their own details back. When they submit, they appear in your Contacts.
Can I choose what information I share?
Yes. Pick the fields to include before you create the QR code. Business and personal cards are separate, so you can share a work card at a conference and a personal one with friends.
The share form jumps to the next field. Is that normal?
Yes. On iPhone and Android the keyboard shows Next after each field and Go on the last one, so people can finish the form without tapping around.
Can I add or change a contact's event right from the Contacts list?
Yes. Tap "Add event" on a contact card (or tap its event tag to change it), pick or type an event, and tap Save. The contact page's "Where & when we met" card fills in the place and date.
Where does a contact who shares with me get their "met here" location?
From your phone. When someone sends you their details after scanning your QR code, your phone's location is attached to that new contact (if you allow location). The other person is never asked for theirs. On a slow connection their page skips your photo (tap to show) so the form opens faster.
Can the person I share with fill in their details by voice?
Yes. On the page they open after scanning, "Speak your details" lets them say their name, number, email, company and role instead of typing. They can pick their language or accent first, and they can still edit anything before sending. It works in most phone browsers that support speech recognition; otherwise they can type.
What does "Research" send to Google?
Only public context: the contact's name, company, role and city, plus the event where you met (its name, date and city). Email, phone, street address and your own notes, action items and voice notes are never included.
How do I add notes to a contact?
Open the contact and use "Quick notes" at the top. Type a note and tap Add note (a half-typed note is also added when you tap away or leave). Each one is saved as a Note on the contact, newest first, and you can edit or delete it. Notes you wrote in the old "My notes" box were moved here.
Can I leave the event out of the follow-up message?
Yes. In Message Contact, the first chip under "Add from My Info" is "Event: …". Tap it to switch it off and the message opens with just "Hi Name, great to connect." Your choice is remembered.
Where do I record where and when I met someone?
Open the contact and use the "Where & when we met" card. Pick an event (its place and date fill in), or just type a place and pick a date. Extra events or dates can still be added from "Another event" in the artifacts list below.
Can I change my profile picture, even if it came from Google?
Yes. Open your Profile and tap the picture (or "Change photo") to upload your own. To go back to your Google photo, tap "Use my Google photo".
How do I add a bio?
On your Profile, write a few lines in "Bio" (up to 1,000 characters). If you upload a resume, a two-paragraph bio is written from it for you to edit. "Rewrite from my resume" writes a fresh one. Tap "Make it shorter" for a one-paragraph version (tap Undo to bring the long one back). A newer resume refreshes the draft, but a bio you have edited yourself is never overwritten.
Can I share my bio, hobbies or picture when I message someone?
Yes. In Message Contact, tap the Bio, Hobbies, Fun fact or Picture chips under "Add from My Info". Text items are added to the message. The picture goes along when you tap Share, because a plain text message cannot carry it. Nothing is included unless you pick it.
How do I add a contact?
Tap Add contact and type their details, scan a business card, or import from your phone. Anyone who scans your QR code is added automatically.
How do I import contacts from my phone?
Tap Add contact, then "Choose Contacts". Your phone asks for permission, then you can tick one, several or all contacts (Select All is at the top) and tap Import. If you gave limited access on iPhone, Apple's own picker opens instead. Contacts you already have are skipped.
How do I export all my contacts from an iPhone (iOS Contacts or iCloud)?
Easiest on the iPhone itself: in the app tap Add contact, then Choose Contacts, allow full access, tap Select All and Import. To bring them in as a file instead: on a computer sign in at icloud.com, open Contacts, press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on a Mac) to select everyone, click the gear at the bottom left and choose Export vCard. That downloads a .vcf file. In AI Contact List open Settings, Data & Contact Tools, Import & Export Hub, and drop the .vcf file in. The Contacts app on the phone cannot export everything at once, so the iCloud website (or the picker) is the way. Your phone does not record when a contact was created, so choose how to date them on the import screen.
How do I export my Google Contacts or Android contacts into AI Contact List?
On a computer go to contacts.google.com, tick the box at the top to select everyone (or pick a label), click Export, choose "vCard (for iOS Contacts)", and click Export. You get a .vcf file. On an Android phone you can also open the Google Contacts app, tap Fix & manage, then Export to file and save as .vcf. Samsung Contacts: Menu, Manage contacts, Import or export contacts, Export. Then in AI Contact List open Settings, Data & Contact Tools, Import & Export Hub and drop the .vcf file in. Choose vCard, not Google CSV, because the importer reads .vcf files. On Android you can also use Add contact, Choose Contacts, then Select All.
What date do imported contacts get, and what happens to duplicates?
Phones usually export no creation date, and some exports stamp everyone with today. When you import, the app asks where contacts with no date should go: the bottom of the list with no date, or an older date such as before you started. A date that really comes from the file is kept, and an export-day stamp is treated as missing. Contacts with no email, phone or social profile are left out. Contacts already in AI Contact List are never changed: duplicates are skipped by phone, email or name, so your existing details and dates win.
What are Skills in Ask AI?
On the Ask AI start screen, tap a skill to run a ready-made routine on your contacts: Post-event follow-ups, Weekly review, Warm intro finder, Meeting prep, Contact cleanup, or Reconnect. You can also just type things like "give me my weekly review" or "prep me for my meeting with Sam". A small tag above the box shows which skill is on, and a x turns it off. Skills only read your contacts and write drafts. Any change, like flagging a follow-up, is lined up for you to review and tap Apply.
Are there Claude skills for AI Contact List?
Yes, ten of them: import your contacts, post-event follow-ups, weekly relationship review, warm intro finder, meeting prep brief, conversation summary logger, contact cleanup, outreach campaign builder, business card and LinkedIn enrichment, and reconnect with contacts. In Settings, Data & Contact Tools, open "Claude skills" and download the ones you want as small zips. In Claude open Settings, then Skills (Capabilities or Customize on some versions), and upload a zip. Then just ask, for example "help me follow up with everyone from last night". Most skills work best with the AI Contact List connector turned on in Claude, and they always ask before changing or sending anything. You can share the zips with friends or your team.
In what order are my contacts listed?
Newest first once you add or collect contacts in the app. A list made only of phone imports with no dates starts A to Z, because phones rarely say when a contact was created. You can change the sort any time and your choice sticks.
Do my changes save when I go back from editing a contact?
Yes. Tapping Back saves automatically and returns you to the same spot in your list, with your search and filters intact. The Done button stays at the top of the screen.
Can I give a contact a nickname?
Yes. Open the contact and fill in Nickname. Searching by nickname finds them, and AI agents recognise it too ("call Bob" finds Robert).
How do I link family members to each other?
On a contact, add a Family item (wife, brother and so on) and start typing the name. If that person is in your address book you get a suggestion: tap "Yes, link" to tie them together, or "Not them" to keep it as plain text. You can unlink at any time. Linking a wife, husband or partner works both ways: they get you as a partner too, and each of you gets your own copy of the other's kids as regular Family items. Delete any of them whenever you need to, for example after a divorce, and they stay deleted.
How do I add a birthday if I only know the day, or only the age?
The birthday field takes month and day, a full date, or just an age or year. Fill in whatever you know.
Do City and Country fill in by themselves?
Yes. Once you enter an address, City and Country are filled in when they can be worked out (for example from a US state or Canadian province). Both stay editable, and anything you type yourself is never overwritten.
How do follow-ups work?
Open a contact and set a follow-up date or flag them. Reminders appear at the top of the app, and the AI assistant can draft the message for you.
How do I import my events with Subscribe to Calendar?
Open Events, tap "Connect Event Calendars", choose Subscribe, pick Luma, Partiful or another provider, and paste your calendar feed link. Events you have RSVP'd to are brought in automatically and refresh on their own.
How are conferences and multi-day events handled?
Events with the same name on different days are grouped as one event with sessions (Day 1 of 3, Day 2 of 3). Use "Add another day or session" inside an event to add more. A multi-day event stays under Today until its last day ends.
Can I scan the back of a business card too?
Yes. After a card is scanned, tap "Scan the back of the card" (or "Scan the back of this card" after it was saved), photograph the other side, and both sides are combined into the same contact. Details you already have are kept, and the back fills in what was missing, like a second phone number, website or address.
How do I record who I met at an event?
On a contact, add an Event item and pick the event from the list. For multi-day events you can choose which day they attended. Tagged people show up under that event.
How do I import my LinkedIn connections?
On LinkedIn go to Settings, Data privacy, Get a copy of your data, pick Connections and wait for the email. Download the ZIP, then in Contacts open the LinkedIn tab and upload it here.
LinkedIn has not sent my file yet. How long does it take?
LinkedIn can take from a few minutes up to a day to email the download link. Once it arrives, come back and upload the ZIP.
How do I connect Claude or another AI agent?
Tap "Connect your AI agent" at the top of Contacts. For Claude, tap "Open Claude Connector Settings" and approve. For Gemini and other tools, copy your key from the same page and paste it into the agent.
What can an AI agent do with my contacts?
Search people and events, add contacts and notes, set follow-ups, draft outreach and find warm introductions. It can only reach your own account, and you can remove its key at any time.
Who can see my contacts?
Only you. Contacts are stored in your account, and a LinkedIn archive you upload stays there too. Others only see what you choose to put on your QR code.
How do I delete my account and data?
In Settings, scroll to the bottom and choose Delete Account & Data. This removes your account and its data and cannot be undone.
How do I switch to dark mode?
Settings, Display & Appearance. Choose light or dark.
How do I report a problem or suggest a feature?
Use the Support or Feedback links at the bottom of Settings. Include what you were doing and what you expected to happen.
